Reflections on My Journey to Rome

Now that I’ve had a few days to settle back into everyday life, I’ve had the chance to truly reflect on my incredible trip to Rome. It’s hard to put into words the mix of awe, gratitude, and wonder I felt throughout this journey, but a few moments stand out vividly in my memory.
One of the greatest highlights was standing in St. Peter’s Square and seeing the pope in person. There’s something deeply moving about being part of that moment—surrounded by people from all over the world, united in faith and joy. Another unforgettable experience was climbing the Holy Stairs… twice. Each step felt like a prayer in motion, a connection across centuries of faith and tradition.
Visiting the tomb of St. Peter was humbling beyond words. And the relics—pieces of the Holy Cross, thorns from the Crown, nails from the Crucifixion—were almost overwhelming to behold. To stand so close to these tangible links to Christ’s Passion was a profoundly spiritual experience.
Of all the magnificent churches in Rome, my favorite was St. John Lateran. I was captivated by the towering statues of the apostles and the rich history that breathes through every detail of the basilica.
But my love for Rome extended beyond its sacred treasures. The city itself is a masterpiece—winding cobblestone alleys, charming little shops, and tucked-away restaurants that seem frozen in time. Everywhere you look, history greets you. Every stone seems to whisper a story.
I am deeply grateful to Mr. Wright and the Basilica School for making this trip possible and unforgettable. It was truly the journey of a lifetime, one I hope to make again someday. Rome has left an imprint on my heart, and I know I will carry these memories with me forever.
