Preparing My Heart for Rome

Preparing My Heart for Rome

In just one month, I’ll be boarding a plane to Rome—a city rich in faith, history, and awe-inspiring beauty. My heart is already stirring with anticipation as I think about what lies ahead.

What excites me the most is the opportunity to visit the Vatican and step foot inside some of the most revered basilicas in the world. To see with my own eyes the sacred spaces that have shaped the Church for centuries feels surreal. But this trip isn’t just about sightseeing—it’s spiritual. It’s soul-deep.

This year is a Jubilee Year, a time of grace and renewal in the Catholic Church. I feel incredibly grateful that my journey aligns with such a holy moment. One of the greatest blessings of this pilgrimage will be the chance to walk through the Holy Doors, a symbolic act of entering into deeper communion with Christ. These doors are only opened during Jubilee Years, and passing through them is more than a tradition—it’s a profound reminder of God’s mercy and an invitation to start anew.

As I prepare for this trip, I’m asking God to open not only those great bronze doors in Rome, but also the doors of my own heart. May I enter this journey with humility, gratitude, and a willingness to be transformed.

Romans 12:12 says, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

This verse captures exactly how I feel—hopeful, prayerful, and ready.

Thank you, Lord, for this opportunity. May every step I take in Rome bring me closer to You.
