Pedaling with Purpose: How My Morning Rides Are Strengthening My Body and Soul

Lately, my mornings have taken on a whole new meaning. I’ve started listening to the Catechism in a Year podcast while riding my bike each day. It’s become a beautiful routine — one that gives me both physical exercise and spiritual nourishment at the same time.

As the sun rises and the fresh air greets me, I pedal along my favorite route, earbuds in, heart open. Each episode helps me dive deeper into the teachings of our faith, reminding me of God’s wisdom and love. I’ve found that combining movement and prayer like this has made my faith feel even more alive.

Listening to the Catechism in a Year has opened my eyes to the richness of our Catholic faith in ways I never expected. Each episode unpacks the Catechism’s teachings piece by piece — covering everything from what we believe about God and creation, to the sacraments, moral teachings, and how we are called to live our lives as followers of Christ.

I’ve found that so many questions I’ve carried for years are being answered in ways that bring me peace and deeper understanding. I’m reminded that our faith is not just a set of rules, but a beautiful, living relationship with God and His Church. Through the Catechism, I’m discovering the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’ — why we worship the way we do, why we pray, why we care for others, why we trust in God’s plan.

It’s amazing how God can meet us right where we are — even on a bike ride. Each mile I ride, I feel like I’m also moving closer to Him. It’s a small window of my day where I’m unplugged from distractions and plugged into His truth.

I’m grateful for this simple habit that is helping me grow stronger in body and stronger in faith. If you’ve been looking for a way to deepen your relationship with God, maybe try pairing your daily activities with spiritual ones. Whether it’s a podcast, Scripture, or praise music — God will meet you there.

I encourage anyone who hasn’t yet explored the Catechism to give it a try. You don’t have to be a theologian — you just need an open heart and a few minutes each day. You’ll be amazed at how much there is to learn, and how much closer you’ll feel to God as you do.

So for now, I will keep pedaling, praying, and growing closer to Him.
