God Always Listens

God Always Listens

Life has a way of reminding us that we are not in control. We make our plans, we dream our dreams, and we pray for the things we think will make us happy or make life easier. Yet, sometimes the answers don’t come in the way we hoped. Sometimes, God’s silence feels heavy, and His answers don’t match the desires of our hearts. But even in those moments, I know this truth: God always listens.

One of my favorite reminders comes from 1 John 5:14: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” What peace it brings to know that every prayer, every whisper, and even every tear is heard by our Heavenly Father. He is never too busy, never distracted, and never indifferent. He hears us always.

But hearing is not the same as granting every request. Just as we as parents don’t give our kids everything they ask for, God sometimes withholds or redirects our prayers because He sees a bigger picture than we ever could. Jesus Himself reminds us of this in Matthew 7:9–11: “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? … If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

This is where trust comes in. I may not understand why things happen the way they do, but I rest in the promise that God knows exactly what I need, even when it looks different than what I want. His wisdom is greater than mine, and His timing is always perfect.

Through the challenges of the day or the uncertainties of the week, I hold onto this truth: there is nothing too big for God to handle. When I put my faith in Him, I don’t need to carry the burden alone. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

So whether the answer to my prayer is “yes,” “not yet,” or even “no,” I know He has not ignored me. He is guiding me, shaping me, and preparing me for something better than I could ever imagine. And that gives me hope.

Today, I encourage you to remember: every prayer you whisper is heard by the One who loves you most. Trust His heart, even when you don’t understand His hand. Because in the end, everything will work out when it is placed in God’s care.

A Prayer for you to recite:

Heavenly Father, thank You for always listening, even when I don’t have the right words to say. Thank You for knowing my heart better than I do, and for giving me not just what I want, but what I truly need. Help me to trust You in every situation, and to rest in the truth that Your plans are always good. Strengthen my faith and remind me that there is nothing too great for You to handle. In Jesus’ name, Amen
